Catching Up With Jamie Carroll

Recently our Senior Fire and Gas Mapping Consultant, Jamie Carroll moved over to the UAE to help strengthen our fire and gas mapping consultancy in the region and take our service to the next level. Today, we sit down with Jamie to find out how things have been going!

Hi Jamie, how has it been since your move?

  • As can be expected with an international relocation, the first few weeks felt like a bit of a whirlwind to get everything in place. That said, everyone has been incredibly supportive and accommodating, especially the team at Consilium here, which I’m very grateful for their help in making the transition smoother. It didn’t take long for things to fall into place, and I’m really glad I made the leap. The UAE already feels like home.
  • The scenery here is beautiful and the country is extremely multicultural. What stands out most to me is the impressive balance between modern innovation whilst keeping a strong sense of tradition.
  • Outside of work, there’s no shortage of ways to unwind which is made all the better by the great weather. On top of that, the variety of food options are endless.

What is your focus on currently?

  • Consultancy work which currently includes finalising mapping reviews for an FPSO in Africa, and a hydrocarbon Piping Station in Bahrain.
  • Being locally available has provided opportunities for customer visits and networking alongside my colleague, Rajiv Chalippat. These interactions allow us to further promote our fire & gas mapping and consultancy services. Recently, we’ve had a number of visits across both Dubai and Abu Dhabi meeting key partners, customers, and distributors. Last week we attended the Petroleum and Energy show in Oman.
