UAE Update From Jamie Carroll

How have things been in the UAE recently Jamie?

I’ve really settled into life here in the UAE and adjusted to both the climate and lifestyle. There’s always something new to discover, and I’m constantly finding fun and interesting things to do in my spare time. I’m genuinely enjoying everything the country has to offer, from exploring new spots to making the most of the sunshine.

Workwise, things have been moving quickly since the relocation. I’ve been kept plenty busy with coverage mapping reviews, focusing primarily on projects throughout the Middle East where being based locally is a real advantage. At the same time, I’m continuing to support the Micropack team globally, which keeps the dynamic varied.

Outside of work I’m making sure to enjoy the lifestyle here, whether that’s a round of golf on the weekends, relaxing beach days, or just exploring more of what the region has to offer. Overall, it’s been a great experience both personally and professionally.

How was ADIPEC 2025?

Last month was a particular highlight visiting the annual ADIPEC event (Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference), seeing the latest products available and the constant push to improve technologies within Hazard Safety. I attended ADIPEC with Micropack colleagues Rajiv Chalippat (Key Accounts Manager) and Martin Grann (Global Sales Manager). Following this I joined the Consilium Middle East team, in celebration of their 25th year anniversary within this region.

What Are Your On-Going Projects/ Milestones?

We have various ongoing mapping projects, including reviews for multiple Compressor Facilities in Bahrain, multiple Bulk & Loading Plants in Saudia Arabia, and a Raw Water Treatment Plant in Egypt.

A significant milestone has been achieved with the adoption of a Micropack Fire and Gas Philosophy by a major operator across the Middle East. This standardisation provides an opportunity to apply our mapping expertise to future projects in the region and beyond, establishing Micropack as the preferred standard for all future Fire & Gas mapping scopes.

In addition, I have been delivering HazMap3D demos and tutorials, as well as issuing software licenses to both new clients and existing customers renewing their subscriptions.

What are your future plans?

Upcoming mapping reviews include an FPSO located in the UK, and an offshore platform located in the Philippines.

Support the development and delivery of HazMap3D, software updates are planned soon with a strong emphasis on improving overall functionality, optimising performance, and enhancing ease of use through a more intuitive and user-friendly interface.

Along with my colleague, Rajiv Chalippat, visit our key partners, distributors, and customers, in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain to strengthen Micropack’s relationships across the Middle East. Also, for me focused particularly on Consultancy activities, to ensure a consistent flow of enquiries and orders for Fire & Gas mapping reviews.
